Krassochoria’ (wine villages) and ’Koumandaria’ regions are located on the southern slopes of the Troodos range, to the north of Lemesos (Limassol). The regions are well known for their local wine production and traditional forms of viticulture which are still kept alive. Visitors are welcome in the small wineries that operate in some villages. In the regions, Wine of Controlled Denomination of Origin (WCNO) is made, including ‘Koumandaria’, a sweet wine originally produced by …. The appropriately named ‘vin de Commanderie’ or ‘Koumandaria wine’ is believed to be one of the oldest named wines in the world, having been referred to by its name for eight centuries.

Tip:Visit Omodos village, with its charming cobbled streets, museums, monastery and preserved folk architecture.

Cultural events

Grape feast: takes place during the months of September-October in Arsos, Vasa, Vouni and Koilani villages. During the festival, visitors can watch the demonstration of palouze making, taste the palouze and wines of the region, and enjoy traditional music and dances .
